Depending on the idea that I have in mind, I can either start off with an idea of how i want the character to be or a name, and then i add the design later. I know some people thoroughly look into personality disorders to give their characters and they research the hell out of it before they make a character with said traits/whatever.
Also, after you have created a character, how do you like, i want to say "test", their personality so that you can be comfortable with how they are?
A while back I was in this writing club at my school, and the teacher was pretty cool and he gave us this idea to use that I haven't really thought about using until now. Take a situation that puts your character in a different situation than what they are used to, or put them through obstacles they have to overcome and then write about how they overcome said obstacle/situation/whatever.
I decided I wanted to try this with Thomas. So currently he's about to get stuck in a cave. He also has to find his way out. Goodtimes.
Any thoughts on any of the questions would be nice.
